In 2017 I discovered my grandfather’s old 8mm film titled Jaffa. It features a beautifully-shot documentation of Manashiya, a Jewish-Palestinan neighbourhood that no longer exists.
Its destruction started during the 1948 war and ended in the late 60s when the Manshiya’s ruins were thrown into the sea. On top of them a park was planted. It was designed by the same grandfather, poet, children book novelist, and landscape architect, Hillel Omer (Ayin Hillel). Alayam אל הים الأیام (meaning The Days in Arabic, To the Sea in Hebrew) was a solo exhibition that recontextualizes my grandfather's footage by focusing on his double position: documenting a Palestinian neighbourhood and taking an active role in its destruction.

Rotem Linial, Tomer Rosenthal and Jesse Lockard | Postcards | 2020 - Ongoing
POSTCARDS is an open-ended, turn-taking game. It is played using picture postcards. While the game can be played using anybody’s personal postcard collection, in 2020 it was also produced as a 5-edition box set prototype that includes 300 postcards and a booklet with instructions and suggestions for a variety of gameplay.
The project draws on the long history of the use of reproduction as a mode of popular access to art and of the use of photographic assemblages as a tool of inquiry into art’s history. However it eschews the fixedness of linear historical narratives, reveling in the sense of wonderment and startling illumination generated by chance encounters of objects and pictures.
